Lavender Field Styled Bridal Shoot

Engagements, LONDON BRIDE LIFE

Back in the hazy summer of 2011 I co-ordinated and styled a fabulous photoshoot in the Mayfield lavender fields with photographer Eddie Judd (the ‘Charles n Eddie’ team!). It’s taken me a while to blog these as they were published in Cosmo Bride magazine, and also over on the fabulous Ruffled wedding blog but thought it was nice to show them on London Bride now too! We’re also going back again there this summer to do a very fun engagement shoot for a couple so very much looking forward to working here again!

The initial inspiration was recreating the laid back feel of being amongst the incredible lavender fields in Provence in France and I tried to bring elements of this to the styling. Both beautiful dresses were provided by Halfpenny London, the polka dot sleeved dress was part of the collection and the lace dress was in fact a stunning original vintage dress. The groom’s suit jackets, both the formal check and the grey velvet both reflected the 70s era and were original vintage jackets supplied by Tweedmans Vintage, we also teamed a lilac silk scarf for one of the looks.

I created the picnic table for two with french style metal furniture, lace doilies, old bottles and delicious macarons, surrounded by zinc watering cans supplied by Fairynuff Flowers, brimming with hydrangeas and bubbly Babycham in coupé glasses for the couple to enjoy.

The backdrop itself was so charming that I wanted to keep the flowers very natural and with a ‘handpicked’ feel, and Steph at Fairynuff Flowers put together a beautiful hand-tied bouquet of scented stocks in pastel colours tied with loose ribbon. A single lilac scabiosa flower was used for the groom’s buttonhole.

Severin from The Hepburn Collection styled the brides hair with a stunning front french-plait to frame the face, leaving the hair down (later loosely pinning up). Make-up artist Tammi Nguyen created a beautiful flawless look, with a subtle grey smoky eye and nude lips.

We also produced a little teaser film, shot by Paul Gwilliams, hope you enjoy – gosh it takes me back to the warm sunny days!

We were so lucky to work with an amazing team of people who all helped make this shoot happen and who did a wonderful job, here are the team!
