It’s time for a little round-up with another London Bride Loves in London, Lifestyle & Weddings. It’s diamonds, digital magazines, sunshine. summer scents and cheeky nails…
This week I attended the ‘Tie The Knot’ launch at my favourite jewellery emporium, the Alex Monroe boutique which also resides in my new favourite part of town, Bermondsey (more on that below). If you’ve not paid a visit to this little gem, you need to get down there. It’s the cutest shop, full of treasures and trinkets and the visual merchandising is total perfection, it’s very hard walking away from there with no bling. As you can see I couldn’t help but try on a few jewels from their new wedding collection which is available online and also exclusively at Liberty’s. They also offer an amazing bespoke service which I chatted to Alex himself about, so boy’s if you’re listening – you know where to go! Hoping to do a full feature soon so keep your eyes peeled.
Back in 2009, I met a fellow wedding blogging and design obsessed buddy, Amma at Beyond Beyond who has since launched Beyond Beyond The Magazine. If you’re getting married and you have an iPad then you need to subscribe! It’s a fab digital wedding magazine, and issue No4 has just arrived and it’s a good ‘un, download from the Apple Store for FREE!
I’m a little embarrassed to say that I have not one, not two but 6 scented candles on the go at home at the moment (I rotate depending on what ambiance I feel like!) but from all of them, my new favourite has to be the Phaedon Menthe & Figuier Candle I picked up from Bloom Perfumery, especially for this time of year. It’s mint and fig scent is refreshing, uplifting and oh so summery. Perfect to have lit whilst sipping a Pimms and watching Wimbledon on the box.
Before the crazy summer wedding season kicks in I took a long weekend off with Mr LB to Soller (pronounced soyehr!) in Mallorca. It was the perfect sunny mini-break destination, easy to fly to, beautiful town, romantic port. The weekend was filled with cava, tapas, ensaimadas, sunshine and tram rides through orange groves. We stayed at the incredible Hotel Salvia with it’s stunning interiors and gardens which I can’t recommend enough – style and substance. Needless to say it’s a great spot for either a mini-break or honeymoon or even a girls weekend away. You can see more of my holiday spam over on my Instagram (warning, there are blue skies!).
It’s taken me a while to get there but I finally paid a visit to Malty Street Market. The market on Ropewalk is just off Bermondsey Street a short walk from London Bridge, and is open Saturday 9am – 4pm and Sunday from 11am – 4pm. It’s just a really cute spot with a whole host of delicious food and drink stalls from ridiculously amazing brownies to gin cocktails and the most decadent of grilled cheese sandwiches you may ever taste. It’s small enough that it’s not totally overwhelming and it’s also a good excuse to pop into LASSCO to have a wonder around all the wonderful curiosities and antiques. Go with an empty stomach and some cash.
For a spot of pre-holiday pampering I headed to the Cheeky Beauty Parlour to give my toes and nails some serious TLC. I visited the Shoreditch salon on Redchurch Street, but they also have a parlour in Holborn. It’s a cool space and a great buzzy vibe in there, and if you’re off out somewhere nice you can also book in a blow-dry or quick hair style package, with cocktail in hand of course to kick-start you on your way. Their own Cheeky nail polish colour range is seriously good, in fact it’s so good that it took me around 20 mins to decide on colours, apologies to my beautician – you have the patience of a saint. Oh and if you’re interested I went for this on the nails and this on the toes!
