When it comes to jewellery, although of course it’s a very personal choice for engagement and wedding rings, it’s something that I get asked about quite often, for those looking for something unique, with a little bit of personality to them but still timeless. Whether you are carefully choosing your ring together or you are waiting patiently and wanting to send some inspiration their way (or perhaps even you’ve stumbled across this as part of the big proposal, if so hello!) I’m sure the work of Rust jewellery will be of interest.
I’ve followed Rust and their designs for some time now, back to when they were based in London, in fact I even visited them to enquire about my own wedding ring, but we *still* haven’t got there yet! Whilst I’ve featured them before on the blog it was quite a while ago so I thought it would be a good opportunity to showcase their enchanting jewellery once again and a good excuse for me to peruse their website and be inspired for when the time comes for me too!!
Rust is founded by Nao Utsumi and Artemis Russell; a husband and wife team (whose lovely wedding was featured a few years back on 100 Layer Cake) and they run Rust as both an online shop (available worldwide) as well as a Tokyo showroom, all from their base on the Isle of Wight.
Their jewellery is handmade in London using traditional methods like hand engraving and stone setting by a small team of highly skilled jewellers. Nothing mass-made here! I love the delicate nature and hand-crafted techniques (the rings are worked on with teeny chisels!) that are an integral part of their designs and no two will be the same. Whilst they are unique they really do remain timeless (after all I blogged about them 5 years ago and still love them which is testament to that!) with a lot of their wedding rings (especially engagement and eternity rings) being one-off’s due to the unique nature of the high quality stones sourced and the methods of crafting.
If you are looking for a wedding band, then they have such lovely timeless pieces, from the simple faceted 9ct gold wedding band, to a more unusual Platinum floral carved band they are so delicate and pretty.
For wow factor engagement rings, the beautiful opaque diamonds in various settings are just jaw-dropping, or for a more classic under-stated style the stunning Platinum Rose-Cut Trilogy ring is sure to make a girl happy, or for the rose gold lovers like myself, this simple but detailed rose cut diamond with 18ct rose gold milled band is too pretty for words.
You can shop their collection online from the Rust Jewellery website, engagement rings start around £1,250 and wedding bands start at around £300. Worth saying they do also do beautiful non-wedding jewellery that makes gorgeous and special gifts for any occasion, these fern-leaf earrings are so pretty and delicate!
If you are popping the question then I wish you the best of luck (she’s bound to say yes if there’s one of these in a box though!).
