Belle and Bunty Red Carpet Collection - Coloured Wedding Dress

The designers behind bridal label Belle and Bunty are a seriously stylish duo, and I’ve featured their latest bridal collection on the blog which you can see here. They have recently just launched their ‘Red Carpet’ collection which I wanted to share with you too, because whilst I realise that a lot of brides will choose an ivory or white wedding dress there is a growing number of fashion forward ladies out there who are a little braver wanting to opt for a sexy and playful coloured gown. I’m SO in favour of a coloured wedding dress, not only will you look knockout on your wedding day but there is every chance that for another glamorous event you really can wear the dress again making it a worthy investment!

That’s exactly the back story of this collection – Alice, (one half of Belle and Bunty) who did just this for her own wedding day by designing and wearing the stunning Red Belle dress (below). Inspired by her story, the Red Carpet collection is comprised of 12 feminine and fun gowns, (from £650-1950) some of which are a contemporary twist on the their own best selling designs but injected with colour.

From floor sweeping ballgowns in shades of hot pink, claret red and deep purple, with low scoop backs, lace sleeves and appliqué detailing, to shorter tea length feminine designs, the collection encompasses Belle & Bunty’s philosophy of combining glamour, modernity and romance for the modern day bride wanting a unique and luxurious gown. The shades of colours are just so vibrant that in person the dresses are so luxurious. I’m also a little bit in love with the black playsuit above, less for a wedding, more just because…!

Belle and Bunty have a lovely boutique in North London not far from Kings Cross, so to book an appointment head to their website for further info here. You can also see how Hannah and Alice from Belle and Bunty would style their favourite dresses from their collection on the blog here in my designer style feature.

Belle and Bunty Bridal SS14 – Lady Zelle Collection

Belle and Bunty Bridal SS14 - The Ophelia

I am always completely head over heels for all the designs that the girls at Belle and Bunty Bridal dream up, and their latest SS14 collection is no different! The ‘Lady Zelle’ Bridal Collection is romantic and luxurious with silk satins, soft tulles, and delicate lace fabrics each design is so unique and  perfect for the Old Hollywood bride who is looking for floating, figure skimming sophistication. The Blossom (below) is an instant hit with me, the delicate lace cap sleeves and flattering keyhole back is pure grace, and oh how I’d long to float around in the incredibly feminine delicate lace and dotted tulle of The Aster, whilst The Maple sure has some va va voom to it with that fabulous structure…

The Blossom incorporates the perfect mix of modern and romantic with hints of texture in its tiny lace capped sleeves and lace peplum around the fitted waistband. Created from the lightest Silk Chiffon layered on top of luxurious Silk Satin which you catch a glimpse of as you walk and the skirt splits to reveal the beautiful contrast of matt and shine beneath. Soft stitched panels run alongside the deep curved V neckline which is echoed in the keyhole back of the gown. Tiny button details at the neck and waist fastening are a subtle detail. Beautiful and incredibly flattering, The Blossom is a must for those looking for something delicate and graceful.

The Aster is a frothy bridal style combining a sweeping delicate dotty tulle skirt and beautiful lace bodice and full length fitted sleeves that delightfully rest on top of the shimmering Silk Satin boned strapless dress underneath. The boat neck and full length sleeves are contrasted by the low cut V at the back which is edged with a soft scalloped lace. Godet inserts in the skirt (a Belle & Bunty signature) will have you twirling around on the dancefloor!

The Ophelia is a modern twist on the all lace wedding gown with a blush silk satin underskirt overlayed with beautiful contrasting ivory lace and a stunning scalloped hem. The softly draped bodice, fitted dropped waist and flowing skirt with dotty tulle godet inserts for extra fullness, all accentuate the waist to fit and flare in all the best places. For a softer, romantic look for your big day The Ophelia should be your number one choice!

Belle & Bunty Bridal Belle and Bunty Bridal SS14 - The ValentinaThe Valentina

Our Valentina dress screams sultry with its fit and flare shape and stunning low scooped back. A shimmering slim fitted Silk Satin skirt with its discreet Art Deco graphic panelled lines is offset with the prettiest and softest lace hanging bodice to enhance the wearer’s waist. With the additional details of elegant full length lace sleeves with a pretty scalloped edge which mirror the base of the lace bodice. With its high neck and full length sleeves; The Valentina offers a sophisticated ladylike look with an alluring back in true Belle & Bunty style.

Belle and Bunty Bridal SS14 - The TulipThe Tulip

Scallop lace trim and tulle is used to perfection with the introduction of the strapless Tulip Dress. This elegant, simple and classic style is fitted at the bust, around the waist and over the hips down into a sweeping dotty tulle skirt. Godet inserts in the skirt add that extra bit of fullness that will have you spinning on the dancefloor!

Belle and Bunty Bridal SS14 - The MapleThe Maple

If you are looking for a slightly more structured style wedding dress then The Maple Dress is for you! Created with clean lines in Silk Morocain and offset with a dark antique crystal belt for a true mix of modern and vintage. It’s fitted at the bust into the waist and over the hips into a curved seam just above the knee where the skirt flares out into a gorgeous understated puddle train. For a cheeky edge to this somewhat modest gown we’ve added in a split up the front of the skirt to show off your pins and a pair of fantastic heels.

The dress designed and worn by Hannah {aka Bunty} to her own wedding, The Bunty Dress is the real romantic; light and floaty in Crinkle Silk Chiffon with a sumptuous Silk Satin underlay, finished with handmade silk corsages. With wide sheer straps, the delicate waist gathering creates graceful lines as the full skirt flows from the fitted waistband to the floor creating a train to the back. Delicate silk sashes at the back, which float as you walk, are The Bunty’s final feminine touch.

The collection ranges from £1650 – £2700, for further information on the Lady Zelle Collection visit their website: They also have a lovely boutique in North London if any of the dresses catch your eye I highly recommend paying these ladies a visit to see the dresses in person.

Belle and Bunty – Insider Style

AISLE STYLE, Bridal Style

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the super stylish ladies Alice and Hannah who are the designers behind elegant British ready-to-wear and bridal label Belle and Bunty a few times and I’m also a big stalker fan of their Instagram feed as they document their ever so stylish goings on and outfits. So as two very chic ladies themselves, I thought it would be fun to see how they would style their favourite Belle and Bunty dress to give brides a little designer insight!  Here are the ever so gorgeous results which I hope inspire any future B&B ladies…

The Silk Satin Darcey Dress is delicate, demure and charming, with a sweetheart bust line and high neckline in beautiful lace, trimmed in Silk Satin binding and elbow length slim lace sleeves. The lace back finishes in a stunning diamond keyhole as the perfect back detail, with small satin covered buttons running down the back as a finishing touch. A very flattering shape on all figures, The Darcey has a slim band to accentuate the waist, which then flows beautifully into a panelled fit and flare skirt with small puddle train to create a real showstopper.

I adore the shades of amethyst and metallic bronze and gold tones which work so well with this dress, elegant and luxurious. The oxblood nails are so on trend and the jewelled details on the shoes add a touch of glamour with the metallic hint. In all honesty it’s all about the floral and jewelled hair accessories from Dolce and Gabbana, definitely something for the fashion forward bride. I hope to see more of this!

The Petal Dress [a London Bride favourite!!] is a sassy, modern take on the classic column dress style. The understated Art Deco graphic panelled lines are offset with pretty layered handcrafted silk petal detailing and stunning low scooped back. Slim fitting and high necked, The Petal offers an elegant ladylike look with risque, striking back in true Belle & Bunty style.

I’m definitely a fan of having some killer heels for the wedding, after all this beautiful leopard print pair would most certainly get use after the big day! The clusters of layered pearl necklaces add an elegant touch to the high neckline of the dress so the all important knockout back detail is left untouched. A latte coloured natural nail is a chic shade and to add a bit of colour a beautiful oversized bouquet of dahlias and chocolate cosmos, which adds that element of drama to the florals.

I wanted to find out a little more about the designers behind the scene, so here Hannah and Alice spill about their keen hoarding habit, trapeze skills and why they’d want to turn Gwyneth Paltrow into a Belle and Bunty fan…

Q. What do you love about working with brides?

It’s amazing to be involved with such a special day, and with the dress being such a big part of that day we love being able to produce a brides dream dress and make them feel super special. It’s a really happy time in peoples lives so its lovely to hear all the stories that surround the big day, see people’s enthusiasm and see how each bride is going to style their Belle & Bunty dress. Each and every bride has their own sense of style and how they want to look on their wedding day so its brilliant to see their take on styling up our designs.

Q. How do you find working together, do you each have different skills?

We have worked together for 10 years now, our Ready-to-Wear collection launched in 2003 and our Bridal in 2010, so we each have our set roles within the business to be the most productive, plus we are lucky to have a great team. Creatively we both work closely together and have very similar tastes, Alice bringing a more classic, elegant side and Hannah a more fashionable, feminine feel – the true “Belle’ and “Bunty” mix that defines our style.

Q. If you could design a Belle and Bunty dress for anyone who would it be?

[Alice] Kate Middleton, I love the fact that she is quintessentially British and so graciously feminine.

[Hannah] Gwyneth Paltrow is a natural beauty with a flirtacious edge, you know she’d wear a Belle & Bunty dress in such a great way!

Q. What’s your creative process, how do you find inspiration?

Inspiration can come from anywhere and anything! As a creative you never switch off from looking at all aspects of your life in a creative way. So it could be anything thats sets off an idea. Sometimes the best inspiration comes from non fashion arenas such as interiors, art, film and photography. We both have a habit of collecting things we find inspiring too, so our studio walls are covered with images, prints, fabric swatches and photos that we like and find interesting. People watching is also a fantastic source of inspiration – we could spend hours with a coffee watching what people are actually wearing on the street and how they put looks together.

Q. Who are your style icons?

[Alice] Miranda Kerr always looks so well put together, whether she’s dressed up or down she has a classic style and alwys looks great.

[Hannah] I love the laid back look that Clemence Poesy has. Anja Rubik also has a natural effortless style (it obviously helps that she is a gorgeous supermodel!!)

Q. When you’re not designing, how do you spend your time?

[Alice] Designing is actually a very small part of what we do day-to-day! Running a business encompasses so many things that we are constantly busy with all other aspects of the label and are very hands on with all our customers. Outside of work my latest fun hobby is static trapeze classes but my favourite thing is to spend time with my daughters Mae & Darcey.

[Hannah] Having your own label is a juggling act but it’s fun and interesting to constantly be working on something different, you have to switch hats depending on what part of the business you may be discussing but I like that! I’m also a big gym bunny [weird as it sounds] I really like to work out, plus it’s a great de-stresser!

If you haven’t already, do visit their website to see more of their beautiful bridal and ready-to-wear collections. Thanks to Hannah and Alice for the fab insight into the Belle and Bunty world!
