Feminine, modern and utterly unique, Hermione de Paula designs hand-crafted and embroidered floral inspired couture bridal heirloom wedding dresses bespoke to each bride.
I’ve been following and admiring London based couture bridal designer Hermione de Paula for a little while now (their Instagram is insanely beautiful) and quite frankly the designs blow me away. Each exquisite dress is a unique piece of artwork carefully designed with the client. An intricate and detailed process and in fact a journey of discovery as it’s created. The designs reflect true craft, and are feminine, playful yet sultry and understated. Utterly modern, and utterly unique.
As a graduate of Central Saint Martins, with experience working for designers such as Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior Couture and Giles the brand has organically expanded since launching back in 2008 with exotic prints and lifestyle ranges into couture bridal.

Leonie & Nick had a colourful Spring wedding in Islington, co-ordinated by London Bride with blooms bursting from terrariums, an a capella choir, coloured wedding dress and lots of eclectic decor.
I’m so excited to share today’s wedding of Leonie and Nick. This was a gorgeous Spring wedding from earlier this year that was co-ordinated by London Bride! So, you know the drill – any weddings by us tend to be a little long in length as it’s so hard to edit them down! I’ll be honest also in that Leonie and Nick are ridiculously photogenic that there were just too many beautiful photos from Lovestruck Photography to choose from, so excuse the rather lengthy post!
Leonie and Nick added so much fun, character and colour to their relaxed Islington pub wedding, with lots of personal details; many combined with efforts of some very talented and kind friends, it just shows you can transform any space and I really loved seeing so much colour! I worked with them in the lead up to the day and it was lovely to style and set up all their personal decorative touches along with the incredible flowers from That Flower Shop, and THOSE amazing gold terrariums that the bride sourced.
Do have a read below for Leonie (and Nick’s!) wonderful write up of the day, they also sum it up with some wonderful advice which I wanted to post here too:
I felt a lot more of a ‘bride’ on the day than I was expecting. Turns out it’s not just the white dress that does it! Try and get round and talk to everyone but do go off and have a moment by yourself (as well as with your new husband!) when you want to.
Spend time with the family members that you don’t often see. Make sure you eat the nice food, drink the fancy champagne and dance – it’s more important to have a good time in your dress than keep it pristine.

The designers behind bridal label Belle and Bunty are a seriously stylish duo, and I’ve featured their latest bridal collection on the blog which you can see here. They have recently just launched their ‘Red Carpet’ collection which I wanted to share with you too, because whilst I realise that a lot of brides will choose an ivory or white wedding dress there is a growing number of fashion forward ladies out there who are a little braver wanting to opt for a sexy and playful coloured gown. I’m SO in favour of a coloured wedding dress, not only will you look knockout on your wedding day but there is every chance that for another glamorous event you really can wear the dress again making it a worthy investment!
That’s exactly the back story of this collection – Alice, (one half of Belle and Bunty) who did just this for her own wedding day by designing and wearing the stunning Red Belle dress (below). Inspired by her story, the Red Carpet collection is comprised of 12 feminine and fun gowns, (from £650-1950) some of which are a contemporary twist on the their own best selling designs but injected with colour.
From floor sweeping ballgowns in shades of hot pink, claret red and deep purple, with low scoop backs, lace sleeves and appliqué detailing, to shorter tea length feminine designs, the collection encompasses Belle & Bunty’s philosophy of combining glamour, modernity and romance for the modern day bride wanting a unique and luxurious gown. The shades of colours are just so vibrant that in person the dresses are so luxurious. I’m also a little bit in love with the black playsuit above, less for a wedding, more just because…!
Belle and Bunty have a lovely boutique in North London not far from Kings Cross, so to book an appointment head to their website for further info here. You can also see how Hannah and Alice from Belle and Bunty would style their favourite dresses from their collection on the blog here in my designer style feature.
