Chiswick House Wedding London by David Jenkins

You may be mistaken to think this wedding isn’t in London given it’s beautiful leafy and spacious surroundings which are brought to life in the radiant sunshine, yet this is indeed a city wedding. Helena and Christian had an incredibly romantic and stylish late afternoon wedding at Chiswick House and Gardens in West London which was captured in that magical light by their photographer, David Jenkins.

“Having moved around the world quite a bit for work, we both agreed getting married at Chiswick House near where Christian grew up was the perfect choice. While Chiswick House and Gardens are quite formal, we wanted to maintain a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Our inspiration for the day was a black-tie garden party. Our colour scheme was based on romantic greys and deep pinks, perfect for a late afternoon wedding.”

Helena walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon as it was a song she had learned to play on the piano as a little girl and has always loved the piece of music. They also asked their close friends and family to read the couples favourites poems, such as E.E. Cummings ‘I Carry your heart’ and Robert Frost’s ‘Master Speed’.  The ceremony was very poignant for them and Helena describes the most memorable part of the day “Saying our vows, it was the most moving moment”.

Words from Helena for those planning a wedding; “Enjoy it! It truly is the most beautiful day of your life and you are surrounded by people who love you.”

Marianna + Harry at Stoke Place / Fresh as a daisy

WEDDINGS, Elegant

I am so thrilled to be sharing this fresh as a daisy wedding of Harry and Marianna with you today. It has the magical combination of a gorgeous couple, a stunning venue, an abundance of pretty details and all oh-so-perfectly captured in memorable photographs full of love and laughter.

Harry and Marianna were married in August last year [aw, happy anniversary guys!] at the chic Stoke Place in Berkshire. The picturesque setting is a beautiful backdrop to the relaxed and romantic photography by the wonderful Debs Ivelja.  This is a wedding with style, elegance and a very chic theme throughout. I’m a huge fan of the bride’s choice of accessories which enhance her radiance and the subtle grey and yellow tones are fresh and modern but still timeless.

Marianna says “When we first got engaged, we always knew that we wanted to have a fun, relaxed day surrounded by all our nearest and dearest.

Stoke Place, for us, was the perfect venue; it could accommodate our friends and family and for a large venue it had a relaxed, quirky feel. Not only is the interior lovely, but the grounds are beautiful as well, and as we were lucky enough to be graced with some sun, we all managed to enjoy some time outside on the day.”

“I chose a Lusan Mandongus dress that I had seen and fell in love with it when I tried it on with a beautiful pair of Oscar de la Renta shoes that we hunted down in the sale. My favourite part of my outfit was my Sakura hairpiece by Sara Gabriel. I’m not one for wearing lots of jewellery and so loved the idea of having a hairpiece to accessorise.

On the morning of the wedding, I spent time with my mum and bridesmaids getting ready in the lovely, roomy bridal suite at Stoke Place.  Ivanna, my hairdresser for a few years, worked her magic with my hair, and Amanda Bell did my makeup (which survived the whole day) and suddenly, I was a bride. The day felt so surreal, it was hard to believe after 9 months of planning, endless spreadsheets and glue sticks, the day had finally come and after all our planning we were finally getting married!”

“We chose grey and yellow as our main colours and so the bridesmaids had grey dresses with yellow accessories, and similarly the groomsmen had grey suits with yellow ties and buttonholes. Harry scrubbed up nicely in his one (and only) suit.

We had a wonderful guitarist play for us during the ceremony, which created a lovely atmosphere.  After the ceremony we all spent time enjoying the grounds of Stoke Place, sheltered from the British summer by the enchanting Raj tent before heading in to enjoy the brilliant food at the wedding dinner.”

“The whole day was captured by Debs Ivelja our beautiful and lovely photographer. Professional and personable, we knew as soon as we met Debs that we wanted her to be our photographer, and she made us feel as comfortable as we could be in front of the camera.”

“Harry works as a graphic designer and we both love things that are visually interesting and stimulating so we wanted the wedding to be bright and full of character. Stoke Place offers a space that is a blank canvas, which allows you to put your own stamp on it.To add personal touches to the day, Harry designed our invitations, and my mum and I spent some time with a glue gun and endless amounts of ribbon putting together a few details and decorations, not only as a money saving element, but to add a splash of colour.

With everything that we had put together, the venue would not have had the same impact without the flowers. We completely trusted Yannick, our florist, and everything that he created was beautiful. He used seasonal flowers in yellows, whites and greens with various textures and shapes, which completely captured everything that we ‘visioned’.”

“In the evening, we had a DJ to liven the night up and encourage some dancing, and to add a little extra entertainment we hired a photo booth. With many formal events to the day, it was nice to have something a little less formal. We got a message book/ photo album at the end of the night for us to keep and our guests got to take double copies home to enjoy. It seemed to be a big hit for the evening and provided me and Harry with some interesting bribery material!”

“The day was an enjoyable blur and we loved every minute of it, however there will always be a few special moments that will always stick in my mind; my dad holding my hand walking down the aisle, mine and Harry’s first kiss as husband and wife and the overwhelming happiness being surrounded by all of our friends and family.

We have almost been married for a year now, and looking back on the day I wouldn’t change a thing.”

I wouldn’t have changed a thing either Marianna! Congratulations, a truly beautiful day, thank you both and also to photographer Debs Ivelja for sharing it with London Bride!
