Back To Front Kings Cross Wedding at St Chad’s and St Pancras

WEDDINGS, Informal, Urban

A back to front wedding for Laura and Tom who were married the day before Valentine’s day this year. They celebrated with a family dinner before the ceremony and a big party after in St Pancras, Kings Cross and of course the bride wore two outfits!

St Pancras Kings Cross Wedding by LM Weddings Photography | Flowers The Flower Appreciation Society | Brides Dress Jenny Packham SusannaLaura and Tom tied the knot on 13th February this year (the day before Valentine’s day!) with the wedding taking place at Kings Cross, with a ceremony in St Pancras station and a reception at 06 St Chad’s however it wasn’t a typical wedding day. This couple decided to have it back to front, so had a lovely family lunch before the ceremony and then a party reception for everyone afterwards! The bride wore two outfits for the different parts of the day, and I love her different styles from city to chic.

Whilst it may not be the most practical venue for a ceremony (read more below!) it’s certainly unusual and an amazing iconic place to say that you got married! I love the photo above, looks like a 1940s wedding in the modern day!

Do have a read below of Laura’s wedding planning journey, and if you’re reading this as a ‘just engaged’ bride to be, then definitely take her advice below and bask in all the celebratory glory!

Amy and Matt had a colourful modern Kings Cross wedding with a ceremony in St Pancras station followed by an informal and urban reception.

This week feels like all my wedding enquiries seem to be for September. It’s no wonder it’s a popular month, the summer is over, life is back to normal, kids are at school and well, the weather seems to be mostly quite lovely.

This wedding took place in September last year and certainly wasn’t short of blue skies. The addition of the colourful flowers, those turquoise blue shoes worked with the couple who’s beaming smiles are almost as bright as both.

When I first moved to London I’d never have imagined Kings Cross to be a destination for a wedding, but how wrong I was. I just love St Pancras and this whole area and couldn’t imagine a place with more of a buzz to say I do.

Colourful Urban London Wedding in Chelsea + Kings Cross

Aisle Style, WEDDINGS, Informal, Modern, Urban

Photography by Eclection Photography

Leila and Perry chose a sweet Chelsea ceremony followed by a walk along the picturesque Albert Bridge before joining their guests for a colourful urban reception in Kings Cross. This couple injected colour and style with her floral crown and his check suit and the cheery green bridesmaids!

Bright Urban London Wedding by Eclection Photography - London Albert Bridge Chelsea

Leila and Perry’s wedding has been a lovely wedding to write up due to all the gorgeous colour injected, it just adds so much fun and cheer to a wedding! They even asked the guests to wear bright colours which is such a great idea.

Leila and Perry were married in September 2015, and chose to hold an intimate ceremony at The Chelsea Registry Office given they had first met on the Kings Road and also that Leila’s parents in fact married there 37 years ago which is just lovely and so meaningful.

Leila’s bridal style is modern and I love her bright floral crown which works nicely with the colourful bridesmaids dresses too. Groom Perry is seriously upping the style stakes too, what a fabulous check suit! They injected their styles and personalities into the day really well, from an epic selection of Brownie’s from Leila’s own bakery to a Lebanese belly dancer and hip hop DJ!

Although 06 St Chad’s is no longer taking wedding bookings (shame!) I do love how Jam Jar Flowers dressed the beams with hops, a great idea and way of adding decor to a tall space.

Caesara + James – 06 St Chad’s Place Wedding + Gold Wedding Dress

WEDDINGS, Informal, Urban, Vintage Inspired

6 St Chads Wedding London by Kat Hill Dress by Wilden Bride

Sometimes you get submitted a wedding and you’re like, is this a styled shoot or an actual wedding because the bride is that stunning. Well, this is one of them! James and Caesara were married in July last year, and they had a 06 St Chad’s Place wedding, which was basically a laid back party, “We both knew exactly what we wanted for our wedding. We wanted it to be like a massive birthday party!”.

Before we delve into the beautiful images by photographer Kat Hill, I have to mention THE dress. A beautiful bespoke gold wedding dress by Charlotte at Wilden Bride it’s just so unique and the gold shimmer with lace and stylish low back really do simply shine on Caesara. Oh and then there are the blue and gold shoes…

Caesara commissioned a gold embroidered bespoke wedding dress from the talented Charlotte at Wilden Bride as she wanted to incorporate her Pakistani heritage. I just adore the shimmery gold style of the dress that is incredibly flattering against her skin tone and is just so feminine.

From Charlotte at Wilden Bride, “The dress has a gold silk slip with a delicate lace edging, and gold tulle backless over-dress with long sleeves. The tulle was an amazing find, which has a metallic gold thread embroidered all over. I sourced three different designs of gold lace, each with a different design and texture of metallic threads, chording, beads and pearls, from which each lace motif was carefully cut out, and appliqued to the tulle-over-dress to compliment Caesara’s stunning figure. I made a statement belt using a gold chain-mail style mesh, and embroidered cut-outs from sequined Saree’s, Gold sequined Lace, Swarovski Cosmic crystals in silver and gold and pieces of traditional Pakistani mirror-embroidery, which had been cut from a contemporary saree design and coated in a gold foil, which gave the original traditional embroidery a metallic finish, but left the mirror exposed.”

The bride got ready with her three sisters who were her bridesmaids, which were all given the choice to pick their own dresses, and wore a selection from Coast, Very and Tiffany Rose.

With the dress being quite a statement in itself, she didn’t have many accessories and simply wore her Grandmother’s ring on the day along with some fresh flowers in her hair that matched her bouquet. And of course those beautiful eye-catching blue and gold shoes!

The ceremony was held at Camden Town Hall, and the bride made her entrance to ‘Stand by Me’ sung by the Maria Fidelis School Choir which I’m sure gave all the guests goose bumps! It was a memorable moment for them both as they met and took a moment to listen to the Gospel Choir hand in hand who are in fact the Bride’s students so it must have been so magical.

After the ceremony, the couple chose to walk to their reception venue, and in fact as they did, despite the rain drops they got lots of congratulations from passers by! The reception venue of 06 St Chad’s Place was the perfect choice for their wedding as the couple live so close to it and regularly had drinks there. Caesara added her creative touch by making some hand-made hanging decorations, as well as arranging all the flowers and her own bouquet with flowers ordered online.

Caesara’s very talented mum got busy in the kitchen and baked everything for the cake buffet that guests were allowed to indulge in after dinner. They also had traditional Asian confectionary such as Samosas from Ambala and both Mum’s were involved in preparing the food for the evening.

They also invested in a instant camera to encourage guests to write their messages and words of wisdom in their guest book which went down really well and of course they get to keep the camera afterwards!

“Kat Hill had already taken pictures at the venue and it was her pictures I saw when I was googling Chad’s place so I thought ‘She’s great! I have to book her!’ and luckily she was available.

The relaxed feel was also facilitated by the music which was the second most important thing. Music makes the party! and then a great DJ who listened to all our choices! We really enjoyed ourselves and would do it all again! (with the same person, of course!).”

Such a gorgeous day and couple, who look incredibly relaxed and happy with all their friends and family with them to celebrate. Congratulations and thanks also to the super Kat Hill for letting me share her work and those gorgeous portraits of the couple!

Chris + Holly – Cool Clerkenwell Wedding

WEDDINGS, Informal, Modern, Urban

Chris and Holly had been together 11 years when Chris finally proposed in Amsterdam three years ago. But cue busy lifestyle [Holly undertook a doctorate!] and the wedding was patiently put back until 8th September last year when she finally finished and they could get married! Because of the wedding being on hold for a few years it meant they ended up organising most of the wedding in only a month! A month! Now as a wedding planner, that’s pretty impressive, not only that but they brought together an amazing day so it really does go to show you don’t always need years of planning!

I love how this is such an easy going wedding day, especially that they they took together to wander, capture some portraits, indulge in a sip of whisky from a hip flask and realise they just became husband and wife. All marvellously captured by Lee at Robbins Photographic.

Holly looks amazing in her dress and guess what…it’s high street! “Unfortunately I had a bit of a dress nightmare and the original wedding dress I had couldn’t be used. I ended up searching for a dress about 3 weeks before the wedding and found a simple but elegant dress from Coast bridal which actually suited the style of the wedding more than the original. I wore my mum’s pearls which were given to her by her mum – my something borrowed. On the morning of the wedding I got ready with my two bridesmaids, my beautiful niece, who was a fantastic flower girl, and my mum.”  She also borrowed a hair accessory from her bridesmaid who’d worn it for her own wedding day – a great way of not blowing the budget and such a sweet gesture.

“We’re a pretty laid back couple and our close friends and family know not to expect too much from us in the planning stakes! We both love good food and low-key, simple but classic style so we focused on that. The main thing was to make sure everyone had a good time so the majority of the budget went on good food and drink!”

Isn’t this shot above amazing! I just love the setting, the light. Oh London you do charm me so!

Holly and Chris knew they wanted a London wedding, and chose Camden Town Hall for their small low key ceremony “Chris is from London and we’ve lived in various parts of the city now for about 10 years so we always knew we wanted a London wedding. The only question was where! We finally settled on The Artisan of Clerkenwell which is a great pub near Farringdon station that had just the right kind of relaxed atmosphere we were looking for and Camden Town Hall was just a stone’s throw away so we decided to hold the ceremony there. We had a low-key ceremony and asked two very close friends to read poems we had chosen for each other.”

One of the most stressful parts of planning a wedding can be a seating plan, but with a relaxed party and sharing platters it’s a great excuse to do away with it which is what Holly and Chris decided “Everyone commented on the relaxed and very tasty food served at the pub. We had posh Ploughman’s – smoked meat and cheese sharing platters with fresh bread and yummy chutneys. We didn’t have a seating plan because it was a small ceremony party and we wanted guests to feel comfortable and relaxed.”

I love that their DJ was actually a friend called DJ! What are the chances… “Our DJ for the night was a great friend (actually called DJ!) who we’ve both known since university. He’s now so fabulous we couldn’t have afforded him but he did it for us as a wedding gift and we are so very glad that he did! There’s a photo of me straight after the first dance with the biggest smile on my face as David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ came on and everyone started going for it on the dance floor. People were still dancing until 3am!”

After dancing our hearts out, we got a taxi to the One Aldwych at 2am and spent the rest of the wedding night in 5* luxury, drinking champagne and eating strawberries on a huge bed! Now that is the life! If you can’t indulge in luxuries on your wedding day, when can you? Definitely a rather fabulous start to married life!

What music did you walk down the aisle to? Time After Time – Eva Cassidy.

Do you have any planning advice for other brides? Don’t sweat the little details; they don’t really matter on the day.

What was the most special or memorable moment of the day? Having our closest friends and family supporting us and wishing us well was amazing and something we will always remember. But probably my favourite moment was getting to spend a whole hour with my new husband right after the ceremony. We went for a walk around St Pancras and then onto Clerkenwell Green with our fantastic and very relaxed photographer, Lee Robbins. We got to chat about the ceremony, drink some much needed whisky from the hip flask I had engraved as a wedding gift, and to take in the fact that we were finally husband and wife after 11 years of being together! The speeches were also a surprise and very heartfelt.

What was your first dance song? God Only Knows – The Beach Boys.

Congratulations to Holly and Chris [so weird saying that as that’s the names of my sister and her husband!] and big thanks to the ace Lee Robbins for allowing me to share the fabulous day.
