A stylish autumn Town Hall Hotel wedding ceremony with a reception at Hawksmoor with a Charlie Brear bride, perfectly suited for Pantone’s colour of the year 2017, ‘Greenery’.

There’s no denying that we’ve all gone a bit green fingered lately and bringing more of the outdoors into our lives. As Pantone announced their 2017 colour of the year is ‘Greenery’ it is definitely carrying through to weddings, and this beautiful Autumn wedding beautifully styled with green details showcases why.

Greenery works perfectly for weddings as Pantone explains, “Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world.”

The greens in all their shades are so cohesive and complimentary to the more wood-styled venues, and the couple’s style, and Melissa’s bouquet by The Flower Bird is one of my favourites I think in all it’s Autumn, green, wild foliage glory, just stunning!

It’s so great to see the fabulous Isere skirt from Charlie Brear on a bride and it looks like it was made for bride Melissa and this wedding day. Can you imagine how fun it is shimmying around in that!? Once again, fabulous groom inspiration in this real wedding from a very well dressed groom Ben who sourced all his outfit in London – a true London Groom!

I really like how this wedding shows how you can style your day simply through colours, tones, fashion and details. The venues are both quite atmospheric with their wood decorated spaces which work so well with the natural greens chosen by the couple. I often meet couples who are worried their venue is too dark or too detailed, but this shows you can really inject a lot of style from details from the flowers, shoes, suits, cake and stationery and green is perfect for that.

I have to warn you this is a long image post, because I found it so difficult to edit (captured so well by Miss Gen) as it is all just so beautiful and let’s face it, a ridiculously gorgeous and stylish couple radiating joy. I hope whether you’re a new reader or a long-term London Bride fan, you enjoy this wedding!

Town Hall Hotel and Boundary Rooftop Wedding Shoreditch London

Planning a wedding in a month isn’t for the faint-hearted couple, even more so from across the pond but Valerie and Dan managed to do just that for their Shoreditch wedding in April, and do it with style! Valerie’s sleek city style was suited to the classic ceremony at The Town Hall Hotel followed by a beautiful rooftop wedding reception at The Boundary as they enjoyed dinner with their guests by sunset.

It’s great to see how couple Lisa and Will built a wedding that reflected them, especially in the venue they chose which allowed them to have a colourful and playful theme with a hint of nostalgia in her gorgeous fifties style Candy Anthony dress. Lots of colour for their late summer day with lots of ‘sweet’ details, quite literally with an amazing dessert table along with thoughtful favours of books for their guests and lots of entertaining speeches!

Ellie + Liam – Vintage Hackney Wedding at The Roost

WEDDINGS, Informal, Vintage Inspired

Winter Hackney Wedding at The Roost by Christine Wehrmeier

Although it’s just turned into Spring, here’s a wonderful winter’s wedding to share with you today. Ellie and Liam had an intimate vintage inspired Hackney wedding at the very cool venue The Roost. I love how their style translates through their day beautifully, even the stunning ceremony backdrop of the Town Hall Hotel is in keeping with their glamorous Old  Hollywood style.

“We didn’t set out to have a theme as such – we both love to travel and it was while backpacking throughout Central America for 6 months that Liam proposed, so we decided to incorporate this into our day. Small and intimate and fun for all was our vision so we invited just our close family and friends and ‘relaxed’ on the formalities.”

Got to love how Ellie went from her cute onesie into glamorous starlet! Ellie wore the Lalique Lace 1920.1 dress by Charlie Brear which was the catlayst for her beautifully original vintage inspired bridal style “It was all a bit by accident really. I had a very different look in mind and after trying many dresses I was persuaded to try on a different style and was completely surprised by how much I loved it and from there a 1930’s theme fell into place. I really enjoyed the search for original vintage pieces though I’m particularly fond of my shoes! I gave the bridesmaids free reign to choose their own dresses for the day and they chose the same one!”

Ellie accessorised the dress with a number of original 1930s items that she sourced such herself, such as the Ermine fur cape, the rhinestone bracelethair comb and dress clips. She then teamed the dress with the most perfectly matched ‘Francesca’ shoes by Emmy London.

Liam’s pocket handkerchief was a token gift from the bride on the morning of the ceremony… Ellie had it made for him out of the spare material left from her wedding dress. And Liam surprised Ellie with a custom made pair of ‘just married’ converse shoes! How sweet and thoughtful are those gifts!

“Since we had decided upon a winter wedding we simply chose a colour to complement the season – a nice rich berry red for the bridesmaids dresses and matching ties for the groomsmen. We also chose this colour for the brides bouquet of Amaryllis and Roses. We chose simple Gypsophelia bouquets for the bridesmaids – such a delicate flower that looks like a whispery ball of lace!”

“We used to live next door to the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green and would regularly pop in to the bar for our favourite night cap – the best Old Fashioned cocktail in town! We wanted a small London wedding with just our closest friends and family, and after discussing our search for a suitable venue that day, the bar tender suggested we take a look at the stunning Council Chamber which was not only perfect in size but stood apart from any other we had seen and the decision was made!”

The ceremony was such a meaningful, poignant part of the day for the couple, “After I said my vows my husband said ‘thank you’. I still get teary when I think of that moment!” Liam says “When my beautiful wife walked in, seeing her in the dress – it was a very powerful moment. Although he also recalls another of his favourite moments of the day, “When she went wrong during the first dance and I didn’t!”.

The couple had some beautiful live acoustic music sung during the ceremony by Charlotte Kao and Spencer Taylor from Him and Her which added to the intimacy of the day.

“Our photographer Christine Wehrmeier is a very close friend and we had the privilege of having our photos taken by her a year or so before we became engaged and loved the results so it was very easy to make that choice!

As is popular with London weddings, the couple had a routemaster bus to transport their guests to their venue reception, but this is a beautiful special vintage one complete with old adverts, how fun!

“We found The Roost and we just loved the quirky-ness of it with it’s fabulously eclectic decor and being just a short bus ride from the Ceremony it was the perfect location and size for our reception. The venue spoke for itself so there was very little required in terms of decor on the day – just fairy lighting in the windows of our reception dining room”

“We wanted good quality hearty food for a winter day. Bangers and mash is our favourite meal so we decided this would be the menu for our wedding. We didn’t want a cake as neither of us particularly eat it so we decided to do something different… we made our own Wedding Jelly! We recreated the moment Liam proposed whilst Scuba diving with an underwater scene using lego parts complete with a scuba diving bride & groom!” That’s definitely an original wedding cake if ever I saw it! Love how they incorporated their engagement proposal into the day and who doesn’t like jelly right?

“We came across Paddy playing the Disco Shed at Bestival and when we found he did Disco Wed to we booked him straight away – EVERYONE was on the dance floor ALL night! For entertainment we made up our own DIY photo booth with silly wigs and hats and a Polaroid camera – such fun and so easy!”

Don’t stress about the details and how it will all ‘look’ – Weddings are about commitment and celebrating love. Weddings are about people. Weddings are about you. Build on that and everything else will follow. Choose the right photographer for you and your style, not because of the price! That’s the biggest investment you will make of your day as those pictures will be the memories that last. If you find the right one for you they will find the details that matter.

Huge thanks to the lovely Ellie and Liam and to their photographer Christine for sharing their wedding day, so charming and such fun!

Stylish Town Hall Hotel Wedding – East London

WEDDINGS, Urban

Town Hall Hotel London // Nick Tucker Photography
Some people do ‘low key’ with well, such class – well that’s Tammy and Rob who had their wedding at the end of last year at The Town Hall Hotel in East London. With it’s classic Art Deco style combined with contemporary architecture it was the perfect backdrop for a day that was about celebrating in style. Tammy and Rob appear to have a wonderful modesty about them throughout the day, captured insightfully by documentary wedding photographer Nick Tucker.
It was a fuss free stylish affair – the bride designed and made her own wedding dress – and looking through these images they capture the couple in a natural and beautiful way from the nerves, to the joy and the dancing. I do also love Nick’s coverage of the guests and seeing them immersed in the different celebrations throughout the day, always fascinating…

“We wanted to do something that was minimal and low key, but that still felt personal to us. We love the Town Hall Hotel. We stayed there after our engagement and loved it so much we decided to get married there a year and one day later.”
Tammy wore a beautiful fitted lace dress with sleeves and gorgeous button detail at the back, and not only did it look beautiful, but was designed and made by her with a very sentimental element as it was made with the lace trim from her mothers very own wedding dress. “It was nice to have part of her day in mine.”
In terms of the day, everything was fairly simple but well thought through. “We wanted it to feel natural and uncontrived. We came up with idea of putting the floral center pieces and candles on mirrors to create a bit more reflected light in the room.”
Instead of an evening buffet, they chose a cheese cake, which having seen so far this year all my couples also choose one, is clearly a popular choice – who doesn’t love a bit of cheese! “Instead of a traditional cake we opted for a “cheese” cake, which went down well with our evening guests as we didn’t have an evening buffet”

“There was only one photographer we really liked and that was Nick Tucker. He is an amazing photographer who managed to make 2 slightly awkward and camera shy people look good. Couldn’t recommend him highly enough, and he is a thoroughly nice guy too”. I can certainly vouch for that too!

What music did you walk down the aisle to? Beach Boys!
Do you have any planning advice for other brides? I wish I had taken the week prior to the wedding off work.
What was the most special or memorable moment of the day? Walking down the aisle and seeing each other, and having all our family and friends together in one room as it rarely happens.
What was your first dance song? Sweet Thing, Van Morrison

What unique touches did you add to your wedding? We tried to make our favours as personal to us as we could, we made a little quiz booklet and had mini golf pencils embossed with the date and our names.
Congratulations to Tammy and Rob, and thanks to them and to photographer Nick for letting me share the beautiful day.
