Most Curious Wedding Show London 2017

There are lots of really inspirational wedding suppliers from the key areas such as catering, florists, photography, dresses and cake (very key!) to more unique touches such as decorative touches, jewellery and accessories. Shows are perfect for meeting your designer/supplier and asking questions or their advice and seeing their products and services first hand which really does make a difference.

A few suppliers on my must-see shortlist are Daisy Sheldon Embroidery, I am in love with Daisy’s work and her beautiful personalised embroidery makes for wonderful keepsakes (I think embroidery is going to be a key wedding trend in 2017/18!).

Personalisation continues to be a popular theme for me, and I’m besotted by the skills of Rosie from Wolf & Rosie, who hand-paints the most  beautiful floral illustrations onto leather jackets for a truly unique addition to your bridal style.

Most Curious Wedding Show London 2017After my recent post on minimalist wedding dresses, Belle & Bunty are one to look out for with their cool, modern take on bridal with dresses and separates perfect for a London Bride. Then there’s stationery from Georgina Creative with their simple but elegant typographic wedding collection designs for those looking for paired back design.

My couples can’t seem to get enough of interactive food and catering ideas, so travelling oyster bar Mother Shuckers are a perfect reception addition and talking point for guests. If you are looking for talking points, and entertainment, stop by the Portrait Machine… I’ll leave you to check them out but it’s guaranteed fun!

With a theme of Pinktopia and Electric Dreams (!) there will be inspiration overload everywhere, so take notes, take snaps and make sure you are in pole position for the fashion show and if you want to get some more insight make sure you follow Most Curious over on Instagram so you can find out a little bit more about who’s going to be there.

Stationery

Modern wedding stationery by e.y.i loveWe’re big fans of modern, fun stationery and the designs from e.y.i love are just that! We particularly like the Laura suite as seen with it’s bang on trend blush card and gold foil writing a winning design combo!

Modern feather lasercut stationery by CuttureIf you’re after something a little more bespoke and luxurious, paper gurus and designers Cutture produce beautiful laser cut stationery ranging from place names to signage to invitation suite designs that tell your story, all uniquely made and beautifully crafted. This feather invitation is bohemian yet timeless.

Bridesmaids
Two Birds Bridesmaids Dresses

If you have more than a couple of bridesmaids in your girl gang, traipsing around the high street or sending out multiple dresses in a number of sizes via online stores can be a bit of a headache! Two Birds Bridesmaids make life much easier and more fun for you and the girls! There are a number of styles within their collections, but the dress is essentially the same, but can be tied and styled in different ways and in a huge variety of colours – whether you want matching or mis-matching there will be a style to please everyone (well, fingers crossed!).

Maids To Measure Bridesmaid Dresses

Why not make a day of dressing up by taking gathering all your girls in London at the Maids to Measure boutique to find them each a dress that both compliments your wedding and their shape and style. From feminine floaty fabrics to sexy backs, the range of designs and fabrics are great to personalise each bridesmaid’s individual style and whether you’re a girly girl looking for peaches and pinks or going for classic navy or black they have so many colours to choose from!

Accessories + Shoes
Debbie Carlisle Wild Rose Bridal Acecssories

I’ve personally known designer Debbie from Debbie Carlisle designs for quite a few years now and her bridal accessory collections every year get stronger and stronger. Her new collection ‘Wild Rose’ is ethereal, delicate and just the right amount of sparkle for boho, romantic or classic brides.

Freya Rose Bridal Shoes

One of the UK’s leading shoe designers, Freya Rose bridal shoes encapsulate glamour and luxury in each design. The shoes have the most stunning detailing, and the Freya Rose signature of bejeweled adornments, sumptuous materials and inspiring embroidery make these shoes a work of art and definitely ones to show off! We love the little touch of lace and fashion forward (and comfortable!) ankle tie detail on this pair!

Fashion

This is hard to just pick a few favourites as there are so many amazing bridal fashion designers that you can see more from at the show. There’s also the designer catwalk highlighting the latest trends and designs. However here’s a few we think you’ll want to make a stop by…

Charlotte Simpson Bridal

Many of my own bridal clients seem to want modern minimalist simplicity from a bridal designer, and Charlotte Simpson definitely ticks that box. Simple structures in stunning fabrics but with effortlessly elegant and feminine cuts are perfect for the contemporary and stylish fuss-free bride.

Halfpenny London Bridal

For those wanting effortlessly chic and timeless style with utter romance and sophistication then you can’t miss Halfpenny London. You’ll fall head over heels for the designs from Kate Halfpenny which include incredibly romantic laces, fashion forward fabrics, and feminine silhouettes that fit like a dream. I guarantee you’ll spend a while browsing through the dresses and just daydreaming…

Andrea Hawkes Bridal

Another modern designer is Andrea Hawkes, who welcomes individual ideas to create bespoke dresses for brides based on their collection of gowns. They work with you to either create a made to measure dress or for a one-off fully bespoke gown for those wanting something completely unique. Think luxurious fabrics such as European silks and French laces the dresses are made to a very high standard, which is clear to see in the designs.

Sanyukta Shrestha BridalLondon based Sanyukta Shrestha’s latest collections bring eco-luxe to brides with their luxurious and organic and fair-trade use of fabrics. The new collection is simply stunning with incredibly delicate fabrics and flattering styles that are effortless to wear.

Florists

There are a few highlights of Brides the Show for me. One is the catwalk, two is the cake, and three – it’s the flowers. The efforts of the florists showcasing last year was phenomenal, I spent hours at their stands admiring at their creativity, innovation and every perfect detail. If you haven’t got your florist yet, you’d be hard pushed not to come away from the show without one!

Electric Daisy Farm Flowers

I recently met florist Fiona and was struck by her absolute passion, creativity and joie de vivre! Electric Daisy Flower Farm grows seasonal flowers on their very own farm for use in their floral designs for weddings and events. If you are looking to go for British seasonal flowers Fiona will be able to let you know what flowers you can expect around your wedding date.

Hiding In The City Florist

Last year the stand from Hiding In The City was one of my absolute favourites (see above!). It was like a beautiful jungle, so green, vibrant and creative. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what florist Sarah will be creating this year, it’s bound to be very visually impactful and fun!

Cakes
Georgia's Cakes

Last but not least, the cake! I’m very excited to see Georgia’s Cakes creations up close (here’s hoping there may be samples?!). If you’re looking for something fun, these are playful and creative.

Hope that small snippet round up of some stylish finds at Brides The Show 2016 has helped prepare you for the inspiration you’ll be inundated with (in a good way of course!) and look forward to seeing some of you there.

Most Curious London – The Wedding Fair for the Style-Savvy Couple

PLANNING, Events Calendar

Most Curious Wedding Fair London

I often get asked when friends get engaged which wedding fairs they should attend, after all there are a plethora taking place in London but pretty much the top of my list would be the Most Curious wedding fair, the UK’s coolest wedding event featuring some of London Bride’s favourite suppliers is taking place in a few weeks on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th March at the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane.

Perhaps I’m a little biased being based in East London and all, but this design-led fair is for those looking for creative, fashion forward wedding inspiration with it’s 100 exhibitors, all hand-picked for their talents chosen for creative couples who love fashion, design and fun in their everyday lives and want to make sure their wedding day reflects that too.

There is an abundance of cool creative UK talent that you’ll hope to have invovled in your day, such as unique inspiration like paper flowers, vintage glassware and pop-up photo booths to the must-have florals, dresses and accessories.

Most Curious Wedding Fair LondonMost Curious Wedding Fair London

This is the shows tenth exhibition which is a celebration of the cool up and coming designers and makers in the wedding industry as well as the chicest of the big names, making for an explosion of inspiration for creative couples, with refreshments and exciting fashion shows throughout the day.

True to it’s East-end location, the show will see the newly launched Cereal Killer Cafe providing bowls of crunchy refreshments and with a hip Palm Springs inspired theme it will be a feast of the senses with cool catwalk shows and live music throughout the day. They also have a new ‘Shop The Show’ feature for quick retail fixes from macarons to succulents in pots so you can pick up a few instant treats too!

If you’re heading there, you’ll probably likely to find me in front of the amazing sounding ‘Calligraphy Selfie’ wall by London Bride favourite Lamplighter London which I’m sure will be a hit on the old hashtags.

Brides The ShowBrides The Show

INSPIRATION

I think attending a bridal show is part of the planning process, along with spending hours pouring over wedding blogs and folding down pages of bridal publications. It’s part of the fun, the experience and I know I always leave with a head spinning of creative ideas, a bag full of goodies and so many amazing supplier contacts. It’s also a very good excuse to get your girls or family involved and make a weekend of it, well it would be rude not to right? If you are planning on visiting keep an eye out on the blog as I’ll be posting a London Bride guide of some of my favourite things you can get up to whilst visiting the show!

As you’d expect, Brides The Show certainly gives the little black book a run for it’s money with it’s exhibitor list. You’ll be able to meet, chat with and see in person some of the most talented, creative and well-regarded players in the wedding industry with something for everyone and in all areas of your wedding planning both the pretty, and the practical [my sensible wedding planner head on there!]. Lots of London Bride favourites will be there on the day and I’ll be sharing with you some must-visit picks later on!

Brides The ShowBrides The Show

EXPERIENCE

Brides The Show stands out for me as it offers some really fun experiences for visitors as well as a wealth of inspiration. You can book a fabulous personalised one-on-one bridal make-up lesson with a Bobbi Brown artist, have a cream tea with your Mum or family in the refreshing Tea Garden, get creative in the Imagination Room with some fun and useful live DIY workshops, pick up lots of planning tips from experts and the Editorial team at Brides during their On The Sofa sessions and of course celebrate with a glass of something from the Sommelier’s Table or Champagne Bar, which in my book is mandatory! Amongst all this, the show will provide beautiful inspiration for all areas of your wedding planning…

STYLE

And I couldn’t not mention my favourite element of the show… The Catwalk of course! There are four catwalk shows throughout the day [so you can’t miss it] and the theme for the upcoming show is ‘English Rose’ which no doubt means there will be an abundance of feminine, romance and British style – brought together by Bride’s magazine fashion director, Bryony Toogood. It’s also a great chance to see the first look at international bridal designers latest collections so it’s a must for the stylish bride!
